Valve to piston clearance test on a 4tec, anyone done it?

Has anyone done a valve to piston clearance test on a 4tec?

Not looking for theories since I can google, but someone who has actually done this on this motor.

The hydraulic lifters seem to make things a little tricky using the clay method. This method also seems prone to measurement errors. Is there another way of doing this?

Ya I do it all the time. Mechanical rockers is really the only true way. You can try with the stock rocker arms but like you said there is room for error

Is there a way to take stock lifters apart without destroying them? I can take the pivot point off but don't see how to get the rest apart to get to the piston.

Both my block and head have been milled, I ran a thicker head gasket this past season but I want to switch to stock for next year. It will probably be fine but I want to be sure.

I have a plan on converting stock rockers to adjustable solid, will see how it works out in the next couple of days. Patent pending.

Hmm one thing I'm not sure is if you make a solid lifter what do you set the lash at for intake and exhaust. I'm assuming you can't just make them solid at the max extension of the piston that's inside the stock rocker.
