    1630 ACE rebuild?

    How can I put this....
DO NOT BUY SEA DOO'S PISTON RINGS, they are not nickle/nikasil or whatever they come from factory!
I installed a set on my ski and messed up my center cylinder!
Any advise on how I can get this $10k junk back on the water?
I heard there is no rebuild available for them.
My theory from the beginning was plasma coated cylinders and nickel/nikasil rings = almost no friction.
Why do they sell regular rings for plasma? It wasn't meant to use regular rings!

    SMH!!!!!

What's the reason for changing the rings in the first place? I would assume whatever the reason was it's also what caused your latest issue.

As far as rebuilds, seems like iron sleeves is what people do in these 300 blocks.

Something is not adding up here , I get 300 block cylinders coated in nikasil all the time and use oem rings and never have bad an issue , did you hone the cylinder walls to allow the new rings to break in properly ? And yes people also sleeve them Chris does a very nice job but they are sensitive to anything over a stage 2 on the plasma coating due to cylinders going out of round after long amount of hours on a stage 3 or turbo applications .

What was the real reason you took it apart and how many hours did it have ?

It adds up. You are correct, it is (or was) a Stage IV (23#) and yes, it was honed. I am guessing it was a bit worn out. But regardless I would not use regular piston rings on plasma. I guess I could nikasil but I am guessing this is after I re-sleeve with iron?

Reason was to refresh motor, and hours were ~130 hours.

Chris (slow91) at Eastside Powersports has done a bunch of sleeves on the new 300 blocks.
