    PX300, SOLAS Prop to spin ~8500rpm?

    Hi

    Looking to upgrade from OEM to a SOLAS 3 blade. Seeking a good all rounder, better launch, mid range and whatever top end i can get

    Ski has Riva intake, 8600 tune, retainers and catch can, target is 8450 - 8500 rpm

    From what i read, the 13/18 is the pick, however i also read that over here in Aus they seem to be depicting to a 13/16ish to get the RPM closer as the 13/18 just dosnt quite make it out of the box

    hoping to get others input running tuned 300s wanting to spin 8450+ RPM as if the above is true the i am guessing i just get 13/16 from the get go?

    Fully aware no ski is the same, climate, alt etc all come into play but seeking input from others that are using these props

    Water temp = 21 degrees celcius
    Air temp = 25 degrees celcius
    Elevation = 0.3 metres

    thanks

    The 13/18 will get you about 200-250 rpm and 2mph or so over the stock levels. I havenít run the 13/16, Iím guessing itís in the 400rpm more range more and 2mph. Iím a fan of the new 13/18...but so many people got burned on the first batch that adoption seems slow.

    Thanks for that, so based off that the 13/18 may be more suited to an 8300 rpm tune, and and 13/16 more to the 8600 tune

    Im already spinning 8230 rpm on stock with a repitch

    im nervous of that too, but it seems they are ok now?

    i haven’t heard of anyone’s blowing up yet. I know 2 other guys running them other than myself they seem fine.

    What was your rpm before you de pitched your prop? I would use that as your start rpm value. I’m guesing you’ll probably be about the same rpm but better speed and rpm.

    I really don’t see much value on spinning up to 8600 if your not going to make more power/speed.

    I'd strongly consider a 13/18. I have a 13/17 repitch and I'll need the lucky cone to dial it in. It hits 8600 in cool weather (15c) and about 8400 at 28c.
