    Oil on FXSVHO Air Filter

Just wondered if anyone is seeing oil on there SVHO air filter & is this common?

I am always very careful with oil levels when changing oil.......measure it out & always check level....readjust if necessary .........a habit left over from my first MR1 FX........level has never been over top mark.

Checked the filter the other day & had a coating of oil on it....also with a small amount of oil pooling in the bottom of the housing.......this is at 132 hrs (oil gets changed every 30-33 hrs)

This is the first time I have checked air filter since new, as my previous 1.8 HO never had oil on it, even well into 300+ hours.

Pretty sure it’s just blowby from the crankcase breather hose that connects to it.

I was getting oil in the intake tube of my riva power filter intake tube. It was dripping out the connection to he supercharger and making its way to the bottom of the hull. I since installed a catch can. 12 hours of run time and catch can is completely empty. Go figure.

You are not wrong there......filter is not cheap......... cost's less to pay postage & buy from the USA then buy locally though!
What do you class as overfilled? Level has never been over top mark......it is checked often....usually before most rides. The SVHO gets exactly the same treatment as my previous 1.8 HO.....never had a problem with the air filter on that. Are people running the oil level below the top mark?

next time I get to Gurnsey, I'll show you how I do it.
    a
doesn't take much to start blowing oil out at high rpm. A catch can will protect the filter. and the reason they even use a filter for a marine craft?

that's one of the reasons yamahas last so long.

line one do aftermarket filters cheaper £99 you might get a discount They seemed expensive stateside so I went for an aftermarket replacement panel

That’s all I did is do the panel filter from green hulk it made a difference on throttle response also after 3 years I took it out to clean it and did not re-oil and that made a difference too in throttle response
