    SHO cracking head

So, my head has not cracked so far I have 207hr and have ran this ski high boost all through its life. Currently it's stock, so I was wondering if before I throw coals to this thing again, would doing ARP studs, getting head milled/checked for hairline cracks, would this help prevent this problem from happening? I was wondering also if stripping this head and having it cryogenic treated would this help keep it from cracking under high boost.Seems to me the head bolts are stretching too much and losing their torque, and causing the crack under the high boost pressure.

Maybe someone can chime in on this one thanks fellas

I took the tune out and the boost out when I saw a pattern with the heads cracking and Jim's video, did this at 178hrs and have been running 87 octane and 73mph for the past 30hrs,

Over winter I'm going to check the head bolts and if I have any loose or not to spec I'm going to remove the head, put ARP studs in it, and have head checked

It's a flaw in the castings, not the way in which the head is being used. Cracks are occurring in even stock engines. Just run your ski and don't worry, because there's nothing you can do to prevent it.

Wow, really? Seems like it's happening to all of them eventually recently my buddy's old ski for sale 2012 FZS high boost, sold for 10k a few years back ran great, now for sale 3500 water in oil head problems, makes ya wonder if it's more than a "casting problem"

Plenty of skis with big hours and no cracked head
Itís just the luck of the draw
I do wonder if itís just older skis
Or if new ones are still cracking heads

I wonder if all the head castings come from the same foundry? Also I think they are cracking with some porosity also . Seen this on a 2008 with 140 hours.

So you have checked and re torqued the loose bolts? How loose? Did you pull the head or just re torque?
