Question SVHO Engine Builder Timming chain question

    Hi,

I have a 2014 with broken chain in the shop, apparently the chain let go at low RPM's due to minimum damage (only bent valves). I'm aware of the update kit but it suxs to change a perfectly good crank. That being said the (older) chains P/N are same from 2009-2015 and I don't remember there being issues with chains until 2014. So my question is does anyone know if the issue is due to a bad batch/lot production run, new manufacture/supplier or is this due the "SVHO" platform itself?

If the answer is a bad batch/lot production run or new manufacture/supplier have these older P/N chains been purged from Yamaha's stock or are we being force to scrap allot of good cranks?

    Thanks

I have heard of people just changing the chain and gear. Problem was the chain not the gear on the crank.

Put it back together, give it to Yamaha, it will come back with a new engine.

Was this word from Yamaha or just your dealer saying they wouldn't cover it? I would try a different dealer..

That dealer is an idiot. Yamaha is fixing them(no questions asked) to stave off a class action lawsuit.
