You should never EVER use P tires on a trailer. They are not constructed for tow service. Cannot withstand the heat either. There are plenty of radical trailer tires out there. Triton is the best trailer Mfgr out there....they are the best because they know what they are doing. If they spec a tire it's good to go.

I totally disagree. A car puts more dynamic stress on a tire than a trailer. ST tires are more prone to failure. You can run ST, LT, or P and be 100% compliant. Some tire manufacturers recommend to decrease the capacity of a P rated tire by 10% when used on a trailer. ST tires are cheaper for a reason, don't follow the propaganda. ST tires actually produce more heat because of their thicker sidewalls. They don't dissipate heat as well.

I did not want to get into a debate, run what you want. I was just trying to give the OP some more options.

It’s more cases here of people trying to fix what isn’t broken. I have several hundred thousand miles towing trailers, all using ST trailer tires with never an issue. I do only buy radial trailer tires however. If you are having problems it’s on the user and not the tires
