2019 Yamaha FX SVHO photos and comments

While attending the 2018 World Finals in Lake Havasu (last day is tomorrow, October 7) I took some time to examine the two examples present of the 2019 Yamaha FX SVHO.

A red hull, white upper deck example is on display at the Riva booth showing off their kit of modifications and Riva add-on products.

The other is sitting on a cart at the Broward Motorsports large tent. My understanding is that Yamaha does not have a corporate presence at the 2018 World Finals.

The Broward example is a blue FX Cruiser.

I will mention that on Friday there was also a 2019 GP1800R at the Broward display. All the Broward machines I looked at were rather gritty/dirty and had not been properly cleaned for display.

They had arrived on a four place trailer earlier in the week and looked like they had come a long way, then went straight onto the display carts. Visible signs of cover abrasion on the side decals and handlebar grips from wind flapping.

GPR grate mount from inside the hull would be interesting to see.

‘Modular’ cup holder/mount system with digital dash.

I have not yet seen the Yamaha Garmin GPS option. I am interested to understand how and where the sensor is mounted, inside or outside the hull?

There is only one GP1800R decaled ski here.

But the VIN says 2018, so it is unclear whether this is a 2018 hull bottom with GP1800R paint and decals.

For comparison this is the intake grate insert inside the Riva example of the new 2019 FX SVHO hull. Also an early 2018 build but VIN says it is a 2019 model year.

Doesn’t look ‘reinforced’ to me but hard to say for sure, and this is an early FX hull build.

Thanks 447. I guess we will have to wait for production units to arrive on the showroom floor to get a final answer. Maybe Yamaha just increased the thickness of the outer hull and still cut the inside liner.

FX definitely has longer and more supportive brackets even if not thru both sections of hull and liner. Both units almost look like the inner hull hand cut though compared to how my GP looks.

There is only one pop-up cleat on each side of the 2019 FX. Two on each side might have been better?

    Footwell drain plug is rubbery.

Clear tubing inside routes from each footwell drain to an exit fitting in the pump tunnel, down low on the right side, just forward of the exhaust exit.

The tubes from each side drain connect together behind the engine and then route to the single exit.

There is a ‘joiner’ in-line from each footwell drain. Not sure if it also a one-way check valve?
