First Trip in the New Boat
Went ok. Major ramp problems. My winch cable snapped backing down the ramp. It was low tide, and i was near the end of the ramp. Cable snapped, boat slid, safety chain cought, but yanked the truck back enough to pull the trailer off the end of the ramp. All happened to fast for me to get on the brakes in time. Anyway, had to gun the boat to unhook the chain, then gun the truck like mad to get the trailer up over the bump. Luckily a turbo diesel capable of towing 14,000 pounds make short work of a 1400 pound trailer.
Fishing was slow-1 sand shark and 2 skates. Some pics.

You know what they say about a bad day fishing....
You got your trailer back unscathed, I hope?
Reminds me of a time a few years back. I was backing a small boat trailer into a creek off the Potomac...low tide...muddy water...seemed the ramp over the years had allowed the creek bed to erode away a little after the concrete. I had to back way down the ramp...all of a sudden the trailer dropped out of sight. When I yanked that trailer outa that hole I bent the hub, axel and blew apart the outer bearings...bent the fender too. I used the hand winch to get the boat back up onto the trailer...barely...the bunks came at a pretty steep angle to the hull. I got her tied down then I had to drag the trailer up the ramp so I could finally see what I'd done...then...I got to drag it back into the storage lot till I could locate and install all the new parts.
What did the marina guy say about it..."Oh well."
