    2002 GTI Taking On Water

New to the group. Bought a 2002 GTI about a month ago. Ran it for a few weekends, never leaving it in the water more than a day or two. Replaced the o rings on the plugs and never seemed to have a real problem.

Labor day weekend, I put the ski in on Sunday and rode it for about 3 hours. Monday, went to start it (starter is not working, different issue) and i noticed that the ass end was underwater. Popped the seat off and the hull was about 3/4 full of water.

I pulled it out the same day and pulled the plugs at the boat ramp. I noticed that water was coming out of the control arms that steer the impeller housing on the right side. the left side was fine, no water at all.

My question is, is there "boots" or seals around those arms on the inside of the hull? And is it possible that they could crack just from one day of riding?

If there are seals, how much work is it to replace them?

Yes, there are boots, old and rotted, well known leak area. Buy 2 and replace them both at the same time. Not that hard, it can all be done from right there at the back of the ski. Your local dealer will have a pair in stock.

Sounds to me like the steering cable retaining nut has broke...
