    Supercharger Wheel Rubbing

I just pulled my supercharger with RIVA XX2 wheel apart for a rebuild and immediately noticed it had been rubbing. Anyone know what would cause this? I am actually surprised the engine isnít acting like it has damage because that metal had to go somewhere.

Aluminum shaving will end up in the IC what ever small particles get past that go into the intake manifold and get caught in the baffle , just really fine aluminum dust might/will get past it and into the cylinders maybe not enough to cause damage immediately.

Any idea what would be causing it to rub?

Confirm shaft movement and bearing, remember heat expansion creating low to no tolerance but I would think bearings first.

Thanks! I guess in the meantime I need to get a new wheel and supercharger housing order because there is no salvaging this one correct?

There does not seem to be any unusual shaft movement. It couldn’t have been an issue with manufacturing of the wheel or spacer? What about low slip? I wouldn’t think slip would cause it to rub but it is really low.

Just looked at a new compressor housing and it looks like seadoo has changed the part number from a 420867155 to 420867157 since I last ordered.

Definitely get a new wheel and rebuild. I had the same issue when i installed a new ET-127 wheel, within 2 hours i had a touchdown and bearing failure. That wheel spins in excess of 40,000 RPMS...any tiny imperfection in that wheel will cause it to be out of balance and and you will have problems again. Clean it up real good, sand down the bell in the housing and get it smooth again (if possible), rebuild your supercharger gear, drop in a new wheel and you will be good to go.

Your going to need a new XX2 and front housing. Most likely you have a bearing failing, or the thrust washer was not tightened fully. Here are the items you will need from the GreenHulk store.
