    2018 GP1800 or 2019 FX?

I was so convinced I would want a 2019 FX, but now that the official release has come and gone. Iíve had time to read reviews and ask questions. The FX is supposed to be the larger more stable watercraft, but it doesnít hold more weight then the other Yamaha Watercraft. It should be filled with more tech, but it isnít really. You have a touch screen it sets speed for cruise and changes colors. What else does it do, answers are few and far between. The stereo is just Bluetooth speakers, not that this was a thing for me. The cruise still functions like the previous model, which wasnít as good as the competition.

I might be wrong, but it would seem to me that the best option is a 2018 GP1800. I certainly know that the 18 needs reinforcement, but it can be done for under $100. A intake grate and ride plate are about $600. Candoo is $140. So for $840 I can seal the transom, intake grate, and get GPS speeds for less then a 2019 gp1800r. I can pick up a 18 for 11k.

Looks like your mind is already set. Never mind the possibility of flashing the new screen to display other values. Or the new hull design. I say got for the 18 gp1800

I weighed those same choices carefully. After I rode a GP on our rough lake a month ago I knew I wanted one. Then the '19 FX-SVHO was introduced and I wondered how much better it may do in the rough. In the end, the $4000 price difference from a new '18 GP, the rumored wait till early next year for the FX, the fact there is no reviews/modifications buildups or tests on an actual production unit, and the final straw? The Yamaha Racing Blue on the '18 GP is my favorite color and it appears to be a one year only color on any Yamaha in the last several years or for '19!
