Sealing intake grate and ride plate

What do you use for sealing the intake grate and the rideplate? Iíve applicated 3M 4200 FC but as you see in the pic below - it is getting flushed out by the water.

It's getting blown out because there are air gaps you cant reach without removing the intake grate and fully sealing it that way. 5200 is a lot stronger, but a bit more permanent. Personally, I just seal the mating surfaces of my intake grate and dont bother with the sides. Rideplate I dont recommend sealing at all because you need to take it off to remove the pump.

If you scuff the sealing area with scotchbrite or something like that it will allow the sealer to bond better. Make sure the area is clean as well.

Thanks for the response, I‘ll only seal the mating surfaces of the intake grate.
Furthermore, do you recommend to fill the gap between the hulltunnel and transom plate with sealant?
