Now, on to the good stuff

2019, the year we've all been waiting for! It's been really fun for me to read about all the speculation on the GreenHulk forum and Facebook pages about what Yamaha may bring to market in 2019. I had the pleasure to find out for myself when Yamaha invited me out to ride the 2019 line up this past July. I have to tell you, Yamaha hit a grand slam for 2019 with the introduction of their all new FX ski's.

As many have speculated, Yamaha gave us an all new hull and deck design for 2019 and the industry's first color touch screen dash. I haven't been this excited about a ski in a long time and I cannot wait to get my own 2019 FX SVHO. I spent a lot of time riding this new beast and can tell you it handles extremely well and accelerates very very hard. As a comparison, Kevin Shaw of Watercraft Journal was riding the 2019 GP1800R next to me and we raced many times, from a dead stop, from a roll, through the chop and I can tell you that the new FX SVHO was right there beside the GP every time. The GP never pulled away from me. This new FX hull is going to be a force to be reckoned with out on the race course next year. Yes, I did say GP1800R! More on that further down this thread

The new hull design is more comfortable, more predictable and better for towing. I personally love the new deck design with styled gunwales. I absolutely love how the rear step bar folds up and integrates with the rear bumper on the ski. This was very well thought out and stylish with extremely good looks.

Starting at the bow, the forward storage compartment is larger and easier to access and now comes with a molded area for a soft cooler bag. The watertight glovebox is also larger than previous year models with plenty of room to store essentials. In all, there is 44 gallons of total storage.

The footwells are ergonomically shaped that remove pooling water and have drains for standing water. This has to be one of my favorite features
There is plenty of seating room for three adult passengers, and the seat material is plush with a premium appearance worthy of a luxury watercraft of the FX’s high caliber.

Moving to the stern, Yamaha designers improved the ergonomics of the rear handle, and the padded reboarding step is softer and wider for more comfort, and deeper to the waterline to make reboarding easier. This deck is especially designed for long cruises, offshore adventures, and watersports towing.

The new hull design favors stability, predictability, and comfort in choppy water conditions. This hull is designed to deliver a light, nimble ride despite its size.

The supercharged FX Limited, FX SVHO, and FX Cruiser SVHO feature Yamaha’s high-performance, ultra-lightweight NanoXcel 2 material; and the normally-aspirated FX HO and FX Cruiser HO come with Yamaha’s first-generation NanoXcel.

The FX Series is the first personal watercraft ever to feature a multi-color LCD touchscreen.

Yamaha’s Connext touchscreen offers more fuel usage information than before, and it even comes with Yamaha’s Drive Control for watersports towing. The 4.3" color dash is super easy to use and intuitive. Yamaha’s Connext touchscreen offers more fuel usage information than before, and it even comes with Yamaha’s Drive Control for watersports towing. Drive Control allows operators to program engine speeds and acceleration curves.

All 2019 FX WaveRunner models now come standard with Yamaha’s new Multi-Mount System to support a new range of accessories (including RAM mounts). These accessories include a cup holder, ECOXGEAR Waterproof Wireless Bluetooth Speakers and Garmin Striker GPS Fish Finder w/ Transducer.

The flagship FX Limited SVHO comes standard with an accessory package that includes a single-rider tube, tube inflator, tube holder, tow rope, soft sided cooler, 12V outlet, matching cover, and two fenders.

In addition, the FX Limited features a Limited Package that includes two ECOXGEAR Waterproof Wireless Bluetooth® Speakers, Garmin Striker GPS Fish Finder w/ Transducer, and RAM Mount Hardware. You can take the speakers with you to the beach, and the Fish Finder can be removed quickly and stowed away when not in use.

All FXs now features a new fast-action start button that allows the user to start the engine with a quick press of the start button instead of having to hold it down.

On the handlebars, the entire FX line includes RiDE, Yamaha’s dual handlebar throttle controls that deliver maximum maneuverability control moving forward or in reverse.
RiDE could not be more intuitive. The right handlebar lever is forward. The left is reverse. At speed, the left handlebar lever will also slow you down. Release both right and left levers and the watercraft is in neutral. No shifting. No gears. The only thing to think about is how much fun it is to RiDE.

In addition to having the most advanced throttle control system on a personal watercraft, the FX line also comes with a five-position electronic trim, which allows the rider to adjust the handling characteristics of the watercraft on the fly from a looser, more playful feel to a more planted, high-performance experience.

The FX Limited SVHO, FX Cruiser SVHO, and FX SVHO get their name from the Yamaha Super Vortex High Output marine engine that delivers more power and torque than any other Yamaha WaveRunner engine. The SVHO engine features a high-performance intercooler, increased supercharger air intake capacity and boost, and a modified fuel injection system for increased fuel flow.
Under the waterline, the SVHO engine is matched with a 160mm eight-vane pump for maximum thrust volume and paired it with a top loader intake grate to optimize its efficiency and hookup in rough water.

And like all world-class luxury vehicles, the quality, craftsmanship, and overall styling are nothing less than stunning. The FX design is a combination of symmetry, balance and sleek flow made possible by Yamaha’s proprietary NanoXcel material and closed molded manufacturing process.

This process creates smooth, exact parts every time. There are no ribs or structural inconsistencies that show through the finished product. Finally, Yamaha’s industry-leading metallic paint gives the FX line a deep, luxurious look that no other manufacturer can match.

The 2019 FX Series includes five models; the flagship FX Limited SVHO, supercharged FX and FX Cruiser SVHO, and normally-aspirated FX and FX Cruiser HO.

The next big news from Yamaha is the release of the GP1800R Waverunner
While power output remains the same, the handling of the ski is greatly improved due to a newly designed ride plate and intake grate. Trust me guys, this thing handles like it's on rails and is a huge improvement over the previous model. I can't wait for Jim's Performance to get their hands on this new ride plate design and work there magic on it to get us even more speed. As those in the know already know, Jim's Performance can get the most out of any ride plate. If you want more speed from your ski, you want to send your plate here!

The new intake grate features a foil that feeds water to the top end of the impeller to improve prop traction and keep the pump hooked up to maintain maximum thrust when turning, and in rough water. It also creates more downforce to keep the GP1800R planted in the water and stable when turning.

The new race designed ride plate is longer to reduce bow rise when accelerating quickly and also keeps the ski hooked up better when running through choppy water. The planning surface is angled slightly for just the right amount of rocker to give the GP1800R the right riding attitude for optimum top speed. Also, the edges of the planning surface help the GP1800R track straighter at higher speeds.

The Yamaha GP1800R is the quickest, fastest, most precise handling WaveRunner that Yamaha has ever designed. A legend in professional watercraft racing, as you can see from race results across the globe, the GP1800R is designed for closed course racing, and experienced high-performance enthusiasts.

The GP1800R gets its awesome performance from the Yamaha Super Vortex High Output marine engine that delivers more power and torque than any other Yamaha WaveRunner engine.

The SVHO engine features a high-performance intercooler, increased supercharger air intake capacity and boost, and a modified fuel injection system for increased fuel flow.

Under the waterline, the SVHO engine is matched with a 160mm eight-vane jet pump for maximum thrust volume. Combined with its ultra-lightweight NanoXcel 2 deck and hull material, the result is extraordinary power and thrust in an extremely lightweight package, delivering a power to weight ratio unmatched in the high-performance category.

With its defined hull strakes, soft bow chines, and race-infused keel shape, the GP1800R hull delivers excellent stability and precise responsiveness and predictability for a thrilling riding experience.

New for 2019, the GP1800R ride is even better with the addition of a new high-performance top-loader intake grate and race-designed ride plate.

    Advanced Throttle Control Features

On the handlebars, the GP1800R includes Yamaha’s award-winning RiDE system, the industry’s first dual handlebar throttle controls that deliver the utmost control moving forward or in reverse. Also included is electronic trim that allows the rider to dial in the handling of the GP1800R to their personal preference or water conditions.

If you want to see the capabilities of a GP1800 when modified stage by stage, be sure to have a look at the build up of my own personal GP1800 by clicking here!

From its inception, the Yamaha VXR proved that a powerful 1.8L normally-aspirated engine wrapped in Yamaha’s first-generation NanoXcel lightweight hull material was more than a match for the competition’s supercharged models.

For 2019, Yamaha is taking the VXR to the next level with similar performance upgrades to the intake grate and ride plate like the GP1800R, along with the addition of NanoXcel 2 hull material that significantly reduces overall weight by 30 lbs.

Specification wise, the VXR is now nearly identical to the GP1800R, except for the normally-aspirated 1.8L engine, and 155mm pump. And like the GP1800R, the VXR comes complete with RiDE and electric trim.

And like all world-class vehicles, the quality, craftsmanship, and overall styling are nothing less than stunning. The look of the GP1800R and VXR is a combination of symmetry, balance and sleek flow made possible by Yamaha’s closed-molded process that creates smooth, exact parts every time. There are no ribs or structural inconsistencies that show through the finished product. Finally, Yamaha’s industry-leading metallic paint gives the GP1800R and VXR a striking look that no other manufacturer can match.

The GP1800R and VXR are winners that are designed for winners. For buyers seeking the utmost performance direct from the factory, the Yamaha GP1800R and VXR are the only choices.

For 2019 Yamaha introduces the high-performance EXR

    HIGHLIGHTS:

    · EXR comes with the most powerful engine in the Rec Lite category; it is the first high performance, ultra light weight watercraft of its kind.

    · Features the same high-performance NanoXcel 2 hull and deck material that comes with a Yamaha race-ready watercraft.

    · Pump extended to give EXR a quicker throttle response.

    · EXR equipped with Yamaha’s RiDE dual throttle system for exceptional maneuverability when operating in close quarters.

For 2019, Yamaha’s most affordable series of WaveRunner personal watercraft now includes the high-performance EXR that is more powerful, lighter, and with quicker throttle response than all other Rec Lite models on the water today.

The EXR satisfies consumer demand for an affordable, high-performance Rec Lite model, extending the EX Series’ popularity with first-time buyers.

Powering the EXR is Yamaha’s award-winning, three-cylinder TR-1 marine engine that comes with a modified engine control unit (ECU) that increases horsepower by 10 percent compared to the rest of the EX line. Also, the EXR includes a top-loader intake and a 40mm jet pump extension that increases acceleration response, adding to the thrills this new watercraft delivers.

In addition to the EXR’s class-leading performance, the EXR becomes the most affordable WaveRunner to feature Yamaha’s high-performance, super-lightweight NanoXcel 2 hull and deck material. The EXR weighs in at a mere 540 lbs, which is 60 pounds lighter than the EX Deluxe.

Completing the new EXR is Yamaha’s RiDE dual throttle system for exceptional maneuverability (also available on the EX Deluxe model), bold colors and graphics, and a two-tone cut and sewn bench seat.

Joining the new EXR is the EX Deluxe, the EX Sport, and EX WaveRunners that return to the line-up boasting the highest first-time buyer rate in the PWC industry. In fact, 54 percent of EX customers are first-time buyers.

The EX Deluxe, EX Sport, and EX are powered by Yamaha’s TR-1 marine engine that is 17 percent more powerful than its Rec Lite competition. Feeding this award-winning motor is a 13-gallon fuel tank that is twice the capacity of its Rec Lite competitor.

Under the waterline is a performance hull design that is manufactured to precise tolerances. This lightweight SMC hull delivers excellent stability for two or three-up riding and towing, and provides precise responsiveness and predictability for thrilling one-up riding. Other than the EXR, there is not another hull in the Rec Lite category that offers as much fun, excitement, stability, and versatility.

On the handlebars, the EX Deluxe includes Yamaha’s RiDE system, the industry’s first dual handlebar throttle controls that deliver maximum maneuverability moving forward or in reverse.

RiDE is the most intuitive driving experience on the water. Squeeze the right handlebar lever to go forward. Squeeze the left lever for reverse. At speed, the left handlebar lever will also slow you down. Release both right and left levers and the watercraft is in neutral. No shifting. No gears. The only thing to think about is how much fun it is to RiDE.

Designed with the same quality and reliability that Yamaha’s more expensive WaveRunners are known for, the EX Series exemplifies affordability and durability in an exciting way.

For 2019, Yamaha’s 19’ center console boats return with an all-new deck and hull design that is 3-inches longer and 2-inches wider than previous year models.

With the added space, Yamaha engineers increased storage capacity and improved overall functionality. From bow to stern, there is not another 19’ center console boat as spacious or more comfortable.

Under the waterline, the longer, wider hull is designed for added comfort too; favoring characteristics that reduce bow rise when accelerating, and hull packing when operating in choppy water conditions.

Another significant improvement that is included on all Yamaha boats for 2019 is a new V-shaped reverse bucket that enhances handling when in reverse, a redesigned Articulating Keel that reduces drag, and a new compliment of corrosion resistance measures to protect the jet pump and surrounding driveline parts.

The new V-Bucket works by diverting water thrust laterally (not down) to take advantage of the benefits of side thrust.

The redesigned Articulating Keel is thinner and with tigher tolerances to reduce drag while maintaining all its low-speed handling benefits.

And to increase corrosion resistance to the jet pump and surrounding driveline parts, a three-step process that combines Alumite, a ceramic coating, and expoxy paint has been added.

Yamaha’s Most Usable Deck Layout Ever in a 19’ Center Console Boat

Starting at the bow, the storage compartments are larger, and open wider than before. To help keep tackle and other essentials organized, Plano® storage trays are integrated into the new portside mini-pod storage compartment, and on the starboard side, the mini pod opens into a huge storage area. These padded mini pods also serve as convenient ingress and egress points.

The bow platform is wider than previous year models, and the bow platform hatch is wider too, providing better access and more light that helps when stowing or retrieving gear.

The bench seat and front of the center console lifts up to reveal an extra deep, large storage area that can also serve as a changing room or a head compartment thanks to the curtain enclosure that is included on the Deluxe and Sport models. The entryway to this compartment is redesigned from previous year models to make ingress and egress easier.

This compartment can also store equipment and recreational items and offers convenient access to the backside of the helm for easy service and installation of aftermarket marine electronics.

On the sides of the center console are six vertical rod holders, three on each side. Four additional rod holders are located under the gunnels on the port and starboard sides. With the addition of four flush mount rod holders on the deck, there are a total of 14-rod holders across the boat. The Sport version adds four more rocket launchers on the t-top.

The helm is thoughtfully designed with a simple to remove windshield for low profile storage, a stainless steel sports steering wheel, easy access to all boat control switches, a locking glove box, and an open area to flush mount electronics such as a fish finder, a GPS unit, and other marine electronics.

Also included is Yamaha’s 4.3” touchscreen Connext control system featuring a brand new user interface in 2019, and conveniently-placed rocker switches for Yamaha’s No Wake Mode and Cruise Assist, along with the bilge, horn, and other vital functions.

Completing the helm is an angled footrest for comfort and stability when underway. Behind the helm is a padded leaning post with a backrest (on Deluxe and Sport). Under the leaning post is a dedicated space for a second cooler which is included on all models.

A new design feature that makes the deck layout more usable are removable backrests for the port and starboard jump seats. These backrests can be quickly and easily stowed away, opening access to the stern. In addition, the livewell is relocated forward for easier access from more areas of the boat.

On the port side aft of the helm is more dedicated storage along with easy battery access. On the starboard side is an 25-gallon live well with two pumps (one to fill the live well and a second pump for the recirculation system that is controlled at the helm).

Yamaha’s 190 FSH also features a raw water Jet Wash washdown system that utilizes water thrust from the jet drive system to allow boat owners to easily clean their deck without needing an additional pump. New for 2019, the washdown system comes with three RPM setting to better control water pressure.

The transom area on the 190 FSH is unlike any other center console boat on the market. Since the engine and drive train are mounted in the hull, the entire back of the boat is open for unobstructed casting, towing and enjoying activities on the back of the boat. On the Deluxe and Sport models, the leaning post is convertible and can be flipped back toward the helm for added comfort and versatility.

The 190 FSH features Yamaha's signature two-tier swim platform that sits low at the water’s edge. A retractable stern ladder makes reboarding after swimming a breeze. The transom also includes a tow eye for watersports and a compartment that holds a five-gallon bucket.

Like all Yamaha boats, the 190 FSH features a patented clean out port that allows for the removing of debris from the jet pump without having to get in the water or swim under the boat.
