    It's been a while

It's been a while since I have posted or rode my 97 GP1200. I rode it last summer (June) and it developed a bad water leak. I rode back to the trailer 15 miles with the bilge pump on. Over the winter I replaced every cooling hose. In the spring I changed the exhaust manifold gasket and was about to change every gasket on the exhaust system. For some reason I turned the pipe upside down and noticed there was a hole in the pipe in the water jacket area. I was relieved that I for sure found the water leak. I found a used pipe and changed all the gaskets and had it painted to match the pipe that had the hole in it. The used pipe I found was blue and that would not have looked good with my color scheme. Yesterday I put it in the water for the first time in 14 months. The heat index was over 100 degrees and it ran 70.0.

I'm very envious of the performance of your '97 GP1200. My '97's engine is running perfectly but there is something going on with the hull and it's not handling right. I can only run 56.2 on gps. It used to run 57.5, all stock. Now the hull tends to pull to one side scrubbing off speed.

Good to see you are still riding 97GPSleeper. I am in the process of resurrecting my ski this year as well.

Wow! Old Jdog is back! I see you are running 69.2 on that Raider, that is really good.

I have had this ski since I graduated High School in 1997. It has had a Group K Sleeper Kit since 2002, I will never sell it.

Check your trim tabs , they are white plastic items bolted on with 4 x 6mm bolts from inside the hull at the rear trailing edge . They flex down under water pressure and act like a brake and slow you down often pulling to one side because they flex at different times.
