    Wear Ring Gap

My ski would rev to the moon, then haul ass. It was like the transmission slipping. I measured to gap between the wear ring and the impeller. It was .015. I put in a new wear ring. From the back of the impeller, I still measure .015, and it tapers off to .002 in the front of the impeller. Is this supposed to be tapered, or am I supposed to have .002 all the way around? Measuring from back to front.

The impeller is an Adonis 14/23. It's supposed to have a 16/23 pitch impeller. Don't know if that makes a difference or not?

Sounds like it’s cavitating real bad. Did you install a new neoprene pump seal when reinstalling your pump?

I haven't put the pump back on yet. I found a OEM impeller. I'm going to swap that out and see what my clearance looks like.

I've seen plenty of pumps with more than .015" that didn't cavitate. I'd be looking for a sealing issue.

Ahh, you mean where the pump bolts to the hull? I've been told to check that out too. It's got the foam weather stripping gasket on it.

    Update:

I went to a local parts store and got a oem wear ring. Problem solved. No more gap. Looks like the folks on ebay sold me the wrong wear ring. Even tjough they stated it was for my application. I guess there is somthing to be said for spending the extra cash to get the right parts. Thenks every one for the help
