Seems like I should pull the head and verify my work.

Any Kawasaki mechanics in the Albany NY region? I'm losing my enthusiasm for this project.
what actually is the issue ??????????

can you send a vid or more pic of you drama, as the rail is on a fixed pivot down bottom, so other than a small amount of pressure to line it up , u can realy go wrong

Is it possible the guide is in upside down ? Just guessing.

No, I didn't remove it. Just the head.

Yry and grab the guise and see it will pull up, looks to be broken by the way it's twisting....because if during the process of putting the head on you put the head on the guide it can break...i also assume you have the chain pulled up and out of the way..... i hope my suspicions are wrong ....

Can you try uising something like a tapered punch to see if it'll grab it and move it possibly?

Something doesn't seem tight. If that lower bolt / guide is installed properly, the guide shouldn't be flopping around like that in the video.

    Have to ask this question.

Did you remove the bottom guide bolt at any time? If yes, is it possible you missed the hole when re-installing the bolt and it is secured above the guide / hole? This would leave the guide wedged beneath the bolt (which would make it too low for the upper bolt to engage the hole) and able to flop around like that.

I only removed the head. I have grab the guide with pliers to try to lift it up just a bit. The guide doesn't give up or down. Just side to side and forward and back.

Has someone been in this engine before you?

No, I've owned it last 10 years.

So we think the guide is broken and I should pull the whole engine?
