gpr800 into a 1300
looking for a hull for a project ski and may have the offer of a gpr800..
can a 800 hull carry a 1300 engine..i have never seen inside the hull of a 800 so assume the only diffrence is engine mounts, this being the case can it carry a 1300 lump and how hard is the job to carry out...
thanks for in advance

HA... funny u bring this up, jsut ran into this problem last night...
hydrotoys is helping me with my GPRXP build, so he sent me the motor mounts, got my shaft machined, etc...
i cut my hull, removed the mid-wall, bolted in my motor mounts and stepped back and scratched my head... Doh!!
i been told by a few people to just line up the 1200 locations and drill and tap the 800 backing plate and it'll work...
other than that... NO DIFFERENCES... i had a 2001 800 and 1200 hull for about a month in my garage stripping them... somehow in their "identical-ness" i overlooked the different location of the front motor mounts... the rears are the same
unfortunately i sold my 1200 hull before i made the discovery, lol

dam shibby hows your luck..i only assume there diffrent as the 800 engine is not as long as the 1300, and the 1300 on my bedroom floor with mounts looks diffrent on the micro fich of the 800 on boats.net..
what you going to do ?????
edit after thought..cant you buy the mount rixing plates from yam and glass in the same place as the 12/1300...???Last edited by Hydrotherapy; 05-30-2007 at 05:47 PM.

oh no doubt about it i'm sure i could... but if i can just throw this hull with some of its components on ebay and get a couple hundred bucks for it and guy buy a 1200 hull and be another couple hundred more out of pocket, it's worth it to me to not sit here screwing around forcing something to work when it should be a much more graceful process

selling it buying another seems more work than cutting two holes/inserts and riviting plates to inner hull????
not saying its easy but got to be quicker than selling hull...
has mark no ideas on how to..he must of done one, seems a shame as you have it there in garage....
late here so shut eye on way, will read in morning....
best of luck shibby..

thanks paul..
of course!! you know how Mark is... sent him a message and within moments he had a full procedure written out for me to help me make it work, the man is a innovative genius.
my debacle is this tho... the bottom of the hull has suffered abuse from the previous owner from being beached and run up on the trailer bunks crooked.. it's FAR from a performance oriented hull right now and would require some extensive body work.
i'm always on the go, always travelling and driving, so to me buying and selling skis is easy bc i can accomodate to have it delivered and get things picked up, dont have as much wrench time as i used to.... so to me it's easier to get a hull that is a better starting point...
we'll see tho... if i dont find something in the very immediate future then i will start turning the 800 into a 1200 and then into a 4-tec
