Finally Out Of the Shop, But With Issues

After having my skis in the shop for 6 weeks, I finally get them back. Took them to the lake, my wife gets on the 97 sea doo xp and rolls it over. I roll it back over, fire it up and ride it around. No issues, good throttle response. I dock it, come back in 30 min, it fires up but only will go about 20 mph. At full throttle, it doesn't go anywhere and the motor revs to the moon. Ease on the throttle, 20 mph, hammer on it, doesn't move. It has a new impeller, and wear ring. I looked at the impeller and wear ring and it looks good. What do you guys think might be the problem?

Sounds like the wear ring might have moved, i would recommend pulling pump and having a look

Did you pin the wear ring/reinstall set screws when you put the new one in? They can spin inside of the pump housing if not

The '97 won't have the ring screws. I would look up in the front of the impeller for a stick jammed in there.

im not familiar with 97's but it should have a carbon seal to seal out the driveshaft to prop, if loose or worn it will suck air into pump tunnel and cavitate

Could it have ingested water when it rolled over? I'd start with a compression check in both cylinders aiming for at least 145psi in each for a stock 1997 yellow hull and top deck 787 xp. A ski with low compression in one cylinder would still "rev to the moon".

Did you ever resolve the problem. If nothing mechanical was done incorrectly, you likely sucked up some fishing twine or something is wrapped around the driveshaft. But I am curious what you found out.

Yes we did fix the issue. It was a bent drive shaft causing things to cavitate. Replaced the drive shaft, problem solved. Thanks for all the replies.
