'96 SL780 top end rebuild
I had rebuilt my 780 and it is now warm enough to test ride it out on the lake. In the first tank of gas I added oil to the tank. It started right up and idled, but when I want to give it some gas it seems sluggist and I have to pull the choke for a sec. and she comes out of it. Once I throutle down she is sluggish again. I pulled the pluggs and they are not white from running lean, did I add too much oil to the gas tank?
I just poured some in. When I go out and run it for a little while she seams to run fine as long as I keep it at 1/3 throutle or more, she run on all three cyclinders. I don't want to rebuild her again. What should I do next, this is my first Polaris ski, I have a 750 Kawasaki SSXI that is old faithful.
Any help will be great.

Why the rebuild? how was it before? Did you do any carb work?

I am with zman. I think you might have a fuel issue. Did you rebuild the carbs, replace the fuel line, and replace the fuel selection switch?

This was the same one I wrote about earlier this year where the carbs were dirty and #1 & #3 cyclinders scored. The carbs were cleaned and the hoses look fairly new. On the hose it runs great but last weekend when I put here in the lake she ran a little doggy. I have been checking the plugs to watch for running lean. I guess I'll have to put new hoses and a fuel switch in.

The hoses rot from the inside out. I would repalce them. It is cheap insurance.

It's possible with the added oil you are running a little lean because the oil has displaced a little gas. Maybe try opening the screws a touch and see what you get. The choke being applied and helping usually indicates a lean condition.

I put new fuel line on last Sat. and turned both screws about 1/8" now they all look even and set the same. When I ran it after it still had the doggyness, I ran it for about 10 by varying the throutle and checked the plugs. They were not running lean but the color is brownish red color and all three are the same. What else should I check or adjust?

could be the extra oil, mine would barely run with extra oil. Add more gas to the tank as you use it to keep cutting down that extra oil.
