    1997 xp

I just recently bought a 97 xp. I've had a few guys tell me to be careful with it because those skis are very hard to handle and usually end up upside down.

Are you an experienced rider or were you just looking for a cheap ski to get on the water with? The '97 XP "hourglass" hull handles much differently than a conventional sit down hull. You need to learn its behaviors before just jumping on and clamping the throttle.

With the stock sponsons you really have to lean hard to put them in the water to get a sharp turn. I just put a Solas Concorde 15/23 on mine - hope to get it to the lake on Friday to see if I get the better acceleration promised - Solas also says I will get 1-2 mph more on the top end but I am not holding my breath on that.
