    66v vs 66e cylinders

Hello all, are there any advantages in using the 800 jugs instead of 1200 jugs? The 800 engines are 120hp, would the 800 cylinders on 1200 cases produce 180hp? Trying to figure out which way to go with my 1200r sleeper project. Low end punch, top end power? Etc? Thanks in advance for any advice! Jack Ivey

From what I've been told, the ports wont line up or match well at all and it's not a viable swap

I know you cant mix and match, I'm thinking of swapping them all out. The porting is different. I'm wondering if it would be a worthwhile upgrade.

I asked the same question last yr and my local guru (Wade Chapin, known well in race world) told me it wouldn't be an upgrade, more of a downgrade although I can't remeber his specific explanation - I just remember something about the ports and timing not being desirable in a 1200 config...
At that time I was looking for a good set of jugs that weren't sleeved and 800's seemed to be readily available. I ended up boring my sleeved 1200's to max oversize and putting it back together.

Seems like I remember a couple of members posting that they had done a swap with the 800 cylinders. The mounts and the total height is the same, I'm thinking they will make more power......

Here are the 66E and 66V cylinders , they will fit and work . But you need all 3 the same . Hydro toys ran the 66E cylinders with Factory pipes and his machine was a rocket . I am toying with doing the same thing but with 84mm big bore cylinders .

Thanks Adam...with this information it pretty much makes my mind up. I was thinking of bolting on a 1300 top end, but there are bigger gains with the 66e cylinders. Would you have any information or insight in the carb jetting? Will the recipe work?

I would go 135/ 140 mains just to be on the rich side to start with and lean off from there. Start rich and be safe . I have just put a GP1300R head pipe on my GP1200R which R&D said added 10 hp , I’m going to try it this weekend. Looking at set of Factory pipes too .
