    Solutions to overheating Yamaha FZS

    All,

Anyone have any experience or solutions about how to do a long-term, permanent fix (or upgrade) to the chronic overheating that results from the use of the whole flyboard/hoverboard set up? I've been riding my Zapata boards since 2015, maybe once a week during the summers, and the shop has detected (at least twice) that overheating occurs both in the bay (melted plastic hose covers, cracked water box hose, etc.) and possibly at the impeller too (hot cavitation bubbles has now caused a pinhead-sized "burn-through" on one impeller blade). I understand that overheating occurs as a result of reduced cooling water, but wondering more about what to do about it, yet still be able to ride my Zapata boards.

    Any thoughts? Thanks in advance!
    Jeff

Are you using the stock impeller?

Have you made any changes to the factory cooling system?

What RPM range is the engine typically turning when the board is in use?

Which hoses had the melted plastic covers?

Yes, it's the stock impeller. No modifications have been made to the factory cooling system. The rpm range for hoverboarding is between 5000 to 6000 rpm, and for flyboarding is between 4000 and 5000. Unfortunately, I don't remember which hoses had the melted plastic covers. Thanks for your answer though.

Jeff, If I were you and you have the money to spend I would install the rear exhaust for the FZ. That way you get rid of all the crappy expensive oem rubber hose. Then I would run a dedicated water line to the intercooler and put the oem intercooler line to a anode fitting on the motor. I think this will take care of all your overheat problems. Do a search on the Yamaha 4 stroke section for running the dedicated line and anode line
