Not really. These Yamahas benefit mainly from an increase in the airflow to the engine which is what this mod is doing. Venting air out the back doesn't do much because of how quickly the air in your engine compartment is cycled through the engine.

I've tried riding with just my rear seat off and the RPMs/ speed is the same as with both seats on... so there isn't a whole lot of cooling going on. But when i take off the front seat and let more air in the engine, my RPMs are 100+ higher.

Thinking about doing this for my 2014 FZS. How does cold air enter the front compartment? Isn't the front compartment sealed so no water or air gets in?
If i installed this wouldn't I be starving the engine for air?
It's a great idea, just wondering how it works.

Modify the black side pieces on your hood where the chrome accents are. See about half way down post #1 in this thread http://greenhulk.net/forums/showthre...l=1#post986838. Jerry explains how to remove and modify them. From there just follow the install instructions provided with the air intake kit.

Do I need to dremel and drill the chrome pieces and cowl? Or can I get by just removing the foam pieces? I am concerned about water getting into the hull. There are times when I ride in rougher water.
