I've read that while this and other aftermarket grates will increase rough water hookup significantly, it will actually increase cavitation on the launch from the start. Anyone confirm or debunk this madness?

Not sure where you got that misinformation..... let me guess, Facebook? LOL!
The aftermarket grates improve hole shot by a large margin. If they truly decreased hole shot racers would not be using them... and I assure you, all PWC racers are using aftermarket grates

I've read so much crap lately it all runs together. One thing is for sure. So much biased info available that water can be quite muddy.

I see that the Worx intake grate is some cheaper than the Riva, I do have the Riva rideplate on my GP 1800, which would be better for this ski????

The RIVA grate is by far the best. Read this http://greenhulk.net/forums/showthread.php?t=267008

Whichever you decide, You can save money off the listed price of the WORX, or RIVA grate and pump seal kit in the GreenHulk Store, use discount code greenhulk at checkout.

I have two Worx intake grates. Installed one on 2017 GP1800. Did not like the slight porpoise effect at higher speeds.

Eventually removed the Worx grate and installed Yamaha OEM 2019 GP1800R intake grate. Much better.

The Riva intake grate for GP1800 is well regarded and I intend to try one for comparison.

I suppose I should post the two Worx intake grates for sale ...

Riva intake grate is stainless steel, the Yamaha grates are aluminum.
