    2011 kawasaki ultra 300x won't idle.

Ski has 120 hrs, when we got the ski it had a melted number 3 cylinder so I rebuilt engine. Everything is great, compression, top end, runs great but just won't idle. When it's cold it will idle for a few then get a up and down erratic idle from 1300-1700 then die after that. After it warms up you have to give it throttle to start up and then it will go just fine until you let off again. Possibly taps sensor? But no codes

welcome aboard, if it was a seadoo, I'd say for sure it's the idle air solenoid. I would assume kawasaki has something similar. it controls the air for idle speed operation and when malfunctioning it would behave as you describe

this fault may not throw a code due to the nature of the solenoid itself.

    oh yeah..welcome aboard GH!

check your sparkplug wires. I had this same issue after and oil change. I was on the water and the ski started up, ran rough, and just died. I found that I knocked a sparkplug wire off the coil when changing the filter. goodluck
