    GPR1300 Stator Issue..Found Cracked block

Hi. First post on the Yamaha 2 stroke board. Had a person come up to me at the beach where I hang out with my ski and my family. He has a GPR1300 that he kept having to jump with a jump box and says it is not charging and that he put a stator in it. I told him I can look at it for him. Barley got it over cause of both wheel bearings are shot on the trailer. Anyway, decided to pull it to get a closer look. Umm, I think we have found the problem. Please note, many exhuast mount bolts were missing or loose. I think this is what caused the issue. I have the chunk not shown in the pic.

Yes it did. He had to start it with a jumper box. That is how we started our conversation.
I got the flywheel off and cleaned and ground the area to be tiged. More pics soon when I get back to it.

Ok folks here we go. Had to bolt up the stator housing cause I lost a little of the "puzzle" due to some grinding and beveling before tig welding. First pic shows that; and I welded on the outside as much as I can.

Second Pic shows after I welded as much as I could on the outside and then removed the stator housing and then welded on the inside. Those who weld all know "cast aluminum" is so much "fun".

Last one shows closing the gap between the broken part and the block. Some sanding and filing and we should be good to go after some new parts. Here are some specs and settings I used:
Welder: Miller Dynasty 300DX, water cooled torch, wiz bang green Tungsten from Htp, size 3/32"
    Mode: A/C
    Amps: 242
    Balance: 74
    Frequency:87hz
Filler Material: 3/32 4943 Hobart MaxelT
