I am still working thru my tunes. So far acceleration is better but not a huge top speed gain. I do impeller repitches along with different tunes and work methodically towards maximum gains so as not to miss something. It takes time for each change and test runs since i do it all by myself. Lol. Still going forward which is a good thing.
I see the plateau coming up soon for speed gains.

Pics of the EX and VX exhaust manifolds side by side. Larger volutes with a collector box and huge stinger on the VX. I was hoping to gain more torque, but not happening

thanks for the info and updates, i know how much time it takes working through differing setups. seemed like alot of folks thought the changing the exhaust mani would make a difference in power, but maybe not. please keep us informed.

I put on the Riva Exhaust and the K&N Filter and took it out last weekend. It sounds great and i beat my friends new VX Limited. It does have better take off and response now. The sound suppression box definitely restricts the motor besides the exhaust sound. Not going to pay for the tune for just a few miles per hour. Gets to 50 with no problem.

I looked at my Friends VX engine and its amazing how much bigger the waterbox is and from your pictures the manifolds.

If you like it, don't change it.
I am a motorhead and will not leave anything alone. I am not smarter than the Yamaha engineers for sure, but I just like to see if I can get a little more out of an engine or platform.
Yeah, the waterbox on the VX is HUGE. I barely got it to fit into the EX.
No big gains, though I am going to run my last and final "tune" with the VX exhaust. Then I may repitch if I cannot get the results I want.
I see Riva claims 60mph with an E85 tune on the EXR. Interesting stuff since I have been running that tune since last January with Jesus helping adjust when I send the data log to him. I am wondering if he is using the log files from my EX to start a base tune on Riva's EXR. He may even be running the tune we built for my EX. I did intercept an email from Jesus to Dave showing Dave the results from my EX tune and E85.....

My customer said he got 61 mph on his EX Deluxe we built. Our intake, ribbon removed, VX manifold with modified TDR waterbox, rear exhaust, Solas 12/17 and Deans Team tune. He was 51 mph before.

NICE !! Dean makes great tunes.
See if you can find out what RPM he was at 61. I Run a 12/17 sometimes.

I can spin a 12/17 to 8550 no problem and that is not getting me close to 60 mph.
200 lb rider on an EX Sport. A Sport is 16 lbs lighter than a Deluxe. Guess i have a slow hull. All my speed runs are with a Garmin GPS Montana (not a cheap one) BTW.
    Thanks
