This is not good: GP1800/VXR hull cracking at bolts for intake grate

Anyone with a GP1800 or VXR (2015 or newer), if you are getting water in hull check this right away.

The pump shoe brackets are recessed in and only attached to outer hull.

Customer came in saying lots of water was coming in when riding ski, look what i found. One side was almost ripped out. If these brackets pull thru at wide open you will get thrown off the ski. This can be very dangerous.

I am taking the factory brackets out, build it up with fiber glass and epoxy resin from the inside nice and thick and then re-install the brackets on top of it.

Good thing you found it. Is that a stock setup, and if not then what kind of speed are we talking about...

Before everyone gets their panties in a wad..... have you ever, or how many times, have you seen this Jim?

We've all seen how some skis get ridden, smashed, etc and drop it off at the shop with the same description Jim said. Not saying the owner is a wally, just been there before and eventually it comes out "well actually i ran aground at WOT but i dont see how that could have caused this"....

I had 1 more dripping water from the same areas and customer said he was taking to dealer because still under warranty. So never took apart to verify.

Yamaha already reinforced the tunnel, but where the pump shoe brackets are they did not. Does not make sense.

Does GP-1800 pump shoe bracket strength/design differ from FZR/S line? I don't recall seeing this issue on FZ's, maybe I missed it.
