Its pretty straight forward as far as laying down the epoxy and re-drilling the holes. In all reality you cannot make it worse. The main key to any type of repair, is prepping your work.

Of course if you have a PWC guru near by like Jim, WFO or other experts at this, let them do it for you if you feel this is not your cup of tea.

I refuse to wait on Yamaha for a solution, its better to prevent the hull from cracking and we decided to be proactive.

But I'm going to prototype some beefy models for you guys.

We have started tearing into the GP and have a concept in the works, we are waiting on a few more parts. Thank you. Chris
I totally agree with you, better to reinforce now before any damage occurs. And you can't wait for Yamaha, hell they might not do anything. Can't wait to see what you guys have in mind

98 hrs on my "16" VXR and 24 hours on my "17". My friend has 70 hours on his "16" . No problems but my friend did have the peeling hull paint issue which I'm not hearing about much anymore.

Maybe Aquaholic will chime in. I'm sure he has 400 hrs on his "16" by now.

Both sides done. Yes I plan on fiberglassing a piece of aluminum that spans just over the original hole for the rack to mount on Click image for larger version.

Awesome, I know its early but you you have a ballpark price range in mind?

    Edited:

I'm thinking about $80 to $125.00 around that range, could be less. We are not 100% finished yet.

    This kit will include
    (2) 3/8 thick aluminum plates, waterjetted to size, black powdercoated, already drilled and tapped.
    (1) Drill bit.
    (4) Longer Stainless steel bolts.

All you need is Marine Tex Epoxy (to fill the 2 voids) and the 3M 5200 Fast Cure, to glue the braket and intake grate in place.
