Yamaha SVHO transom mod, tapered transom plate vs. R&D cavitation fighter pump sleeve

Has any used/modified their transom plate yet?

I was curious if their was any improvement over the oem transom plate. Any input?

What modification are you asking about?

I'd say get it done. The R&D cavitation ring is useless with your prop. It binds so badly, the engine won't even start. And Yamaha's do NOT respond well to impeller setback.

Are there any trick/tips in removing the transom from the ski? I have the impeller housing off, but the transom bolts from the inside. Is there any sealant/adhesive holding it on or just the hardware?

Once you take off 4 nuts on inside and hoses, you can pull transom off by hand. The stock sealant is a joke. I would advise removing intake grate and rideplate too.

2015 FX SVHO -- Dean's Stage 3IC tune, 13/18 Solas prop bent by Dean...
The Solas impeller actually binds against the red R&D anti-cavitation ring?

This happens with the unmodified Solas impeller or just the bent by Dean version?

This is with the stock Solas 13/18r. Get Dean's transom MOD instead.

The R&D cavitation fighter sleeve will not work with the 13/18 SVHO impeller unless you mill the back hub so that it sits 3mm back.
Product description on the cavitation fighter sleeve states this.

This is not an issue with the 13/20 SVHO impellers.

Having Dean do the transom plate mod to your transom plate, or ordering a complete modded transom plate is the way to go in my opinion.

You can also do this yourself using a 60 grit flapper sander on a drill. It's a lot of work, but doable. I've done it many times. Check this link out

And don't think I'm crazy guys. That note about what to cut was not there when I bought the ring.
