You can do simple bolt on mods and they are warranty friendly. Air intakes, exhaust, impeller, intake grate, sponsons, etc. all warranty friendly. They would have to prove that the mod you added to the ski caused the failure. Maybe remind your dealer that even Yamaha themselves sell bolt on upgrades!

I think you have to determine what your goals are. Will the ski do it or go to a different model?

I usually buy a ski and do the simple bolt-on's just to wake it up a little. I am debating doing a tune on my 2015 Yamaha FX Cruiser SVHO because of the timing chain issues.

The ski is already detuned by Yamaha. Should be a no brained to get the extra HP back.

howver, I recall reading that the lower hp allowed Yamaha to make skimp on some mechanicals and making the machine more simple. This dropped the the price tag. So, I would then caution about reliability is jacking HP back up.

Anytime you mod you risk voiding the warranty. Only people that sell the parts will tell you otherwise but they won't be the ones standing next to you backing up your warranty when yanaha tells you to pound sand. So, it's your comfort level and there is perfect science.

If warranty is of critical concern don't touch it and certainly don't be a test for the parts company.

otherwise through caution to the wind and have fun take your chances.

Spark versus ex is no comparison. EX is a real ski with real potential and real reliability. I'd go EX all day long over a spark.
