The 1.8 seems to get about the same MPG except for at WOT.

Yes they are nearly the same mpg.
More cc's x less rpms -vice- less cc's x more rpms.

Personally, having wrenched on both, I'm a 1.8 na fan... no reduction gear, less exhaust manifolds, and way more room in the hull.

    Question for TimeBandit:
I have a 2006 FXHO and I agree they are awesome in rough water....I ride in the Absecon Inlet and out in the ocean off Brigantine/Atlantic City NJ. I am wondering what kind of top end speed are you getting using the VXR Engine (1.8L)? How is your fuel efficieny and what is your max RPMs? Thanks for your great post on how you did the conversion.

I haven't really top'ed-out this ski due to the fact speed was never the goal on this. Plus, when I'm out on it, I'm typically gear'ed up as well and rather not attempt WOT speeds.
That said RPMs would be more predicated on impeller-pitch than the hull per-say.
Fuel-wise, it's great! Never owned a VXR, so pushing around this slightly heavier hull - I cannot say affects fuel mileage. However, I would imagine toting around my fat arse probably does - lol

Following closely. So the 1.8l motors drop in fine and use the same mounts, and the pumps fit as well? I've been on the hunt for 2 wrecked SVHO skis a while to do a swap on my boat.
