    Fx SVHO Intermediate Housing Grease

Hello All. Recently purchased a 2014 FX SVHO with 60 hrs and trying to find out if I should grease the intermediate housing bearing. I noticed it doesn't have a hose but a instead has a nipple at the housing. If I am to grease it, how much do I put in? The ski has 60 hrs and I have no idea if it has been done before.

That nipple is a standard zerk fitting. I grease mine as part of Winterization which 50-60 hours is a seasons riding. About five pumps from a standard size grease gun and pump slowly to not hurt the seal. If you do a search, you should find the same recommendations.

Thanks. Since I am not sure if it has ever been greased, I'll give it about 5 slow pumps to begin with.

Thanks. That's an interesting idea as well.

That hose set up would make things easier and it sure does sound like Jerry's, Greenhulk's, voice. I believe the older FX skis had it factory. Thanks.

If it's only been greased from factory, I can already tell you it doesn't have enough.
i.e., I just serviced yet another one off a 25 hr ski and it took well over twice that # of pumps. Hence "I" like to fill them up completely, just until I feel a bit of back-pressure. The seal is not THAT fragile if you go slow - and will allow excess by, into the shaft hose link. FWIW, filling up insures there's no room to welcome water in, as trapped air can expand/contract with temp changes (basically same concept we apply to trailer hub bearings - keep 'em full of grease - no negative pressures).

    Thanks. I'll try that
