07 yamaha fxho overheated first time.

After all day in saltwater I got home and hook water hose up doing flush clean out like supposed to but engine got overheated while water hose running. Any idea what cause? She cool down now plan to go lake near by my home tomorrow morning in lake see if same problem or just my flush system that I didn't hook up properly.

Turned out my waster hose was folding that why not enough water feed so I straight up and hook back up and start her. Been ten minutes so far ok no overheat yet but I'm deaf can't hear if there any damage were done I'll have one of my hearing friend come over and hear for me. Hopefully there no damage being done from overheated.

Could be a temp sensor, there's two on that ski. One in the exhaust and one in the block under the exhaust manifold. Could be the thermostat. Could be the exhaust water passages or the block are stopped up from the all the salt water use. Does it go in limp mode when it overheats?

No need to run it for 10 in on the hose. 2-3 minutes is fine, you don't have a problem.

Went on lake play her for 15 minute no over heat stayed there hour and everything good so far. I think when overheated light came on second time was from cold water touch hot engine when I was rinse inside hull to wash salt water off that how trigged sensor from hot steam?
