Is this wear ring shot or can I get another summer out of it

Replacing my impeller and found the wear ring with heat divot in it. Will it hurt anything if I continue to use it this summer or is it time for a new one. Any help appreciated.

Done, just pulled it out. Any suggestions on replacement. I see some plastic insert types. Are they any good?

I think OEM Yamaha is the cheapest. What year and model is your ski? I have a barely used 155mm from a 2013 FZS if you're interested. PM me if you are.

Riva makes a solid stainless wear ring. They're only a little more than an OEM & don't have the bulging issues that are common with the stock stainless liner pressed into an aluminum housing. They'll last much longer if you ride in salt. BTW, with cavitation burns that bad on the wear ring, what does the prop look like?

I've sold a bunch of the aftermarket plastic/ring setups for yamaha. we got way too much gravel around here to replace with an oem

for open water..go with the oem setup, you need to be able to pulverize short lengths of rouge anchor line while at sea, you dont want one of those taking out your propulsion a couple of miles from shore.

The Blade tore while I was going flat out. Didn't hit nothin. The edge of the blades are a little burnt around the area of the burn on the ring. Not sure if the torn blade and burn on ring have anything to do with eachother though.

Thanks much for the offer but I've ordered both the oem and plastic insert type. I'm going to check'em both out to see if there is a performance difference.

the basic difference you'll see is what happens when something goes into the pump that shouldn't

the plastic will give its life to save your prop....
