    96' SL900 Bogs won't Get On Plane

I recently purchased a 96' SL900 that had a bad stator and had the tank removed already.

After replacing the stator and reinstalling everything the motor runs good on the trailer but has no power on the water. Tonight I took it and it felt wouldn't get on plane but every once in awhile it felt like it would want to take off then it would bog. I tried another set of carb and I tried playing with the choke and that didn't seem to help it change anything.

I was wondering if I have to prime the fuel system or something?

I also mixed oil in the gas probably 65-70:1 because the jet ski had been sitting for awhile. (Seemed like a good idea at the time but maybe not)

I replaced all the fuel lines when I reinstalled the tank and I also removed the pump to make sure the bearings weren't seized.

    Thanks you for any input!

Compression was about 130lbs on all three cylinders

Are all three cylinders actually firing? Do they get equally warm?

Is this ignition still the original factory type or the Gen III upgrade ignition?

I have nice blue spark on all they and all three cylinders were warm to the touch.

I will double check on the numbers but I believe the cdi was gen II and the stator didn't have any numbers that I could find.

The CDI also had a different number then the original but it came from an identical SL900 with a bad motor that I found for parts.

Should the exhaust hose from the water box to the exit tube be soft and squishy? A few months ago I had a SLTX that I could've swore had all kinds of carburetor problems and I ended up taking the exhaust hose off and it was all collapsed inside.

Exhaust hoses should be quite firm to squeeze.

Remove the hose and inspect inside. It may have delaminated due to excess exhaust heat. If hose is heat damaged, remove and clean the orifice and mesh filter screen for the exhaust water injection.

The hose on my parts machine was firm so I swapped them.

    Is this common problem?

I'm guessing the problem is the operator not the hose

Did you inspect inside the removed soft exhaust hose?

It can be helpful to confirm or not confirm a diagnosis.

Sorry, I believe the hose was collapsed inside it was hard to tell because it was kind of in the middle section of the pipe after the second elbow.

I replaced it but now the jet ski won't run at all it just lets out a huge backfire everytime after you try starting it
