    P0533 code driving me nutz!

I just bought a 03 GTX with good compression and in overall clean condition.

Problem I'm having is with the number 3 cylinder. It is running on 1-2 fine but three will not fire.

I have 3 extra coils and a new set of plugs. I have verified every plug and coil work perfectly on cylinder 1 and 2.
    None work on number 3.

Injectors work on all cylinders perfectly.

I have 12v on coil lead wires and 12v on both wires when ski is running. But still no spark on number 3. They are all doing the exact same thing but number 3 will not fire. Anything I'm missing?

I have 6 good coils and 2 sets of new plugs. All of them fire perfect on number 2 and 1 cylinder but refuse to fire on number 3. Number 3 has 12v on one wire and I forget a mallet number volt on the secondary wire. As all other 2 have. All 3 check the same voltage wise when key on and when ski is running. No difference. I just checked the harness for continuity and all checks are good. I have 3 mpems and all are good working units. All 3 have been tested and same problem persists.

All 3 Injectors work perfect as should.all grounds have been checked, cleaned and put back in place. Only thing I can't check is the ecm due to not having one to check with. Should have never sold off my spare. Puftttt!

Geezus! Tuff one. Sounds like my day fixing car stereos. I vaguely remembering hearing a similar story and it being " limp home mode" I thought the 4tec shuts down a cyl if threat is involved like over heating. Dont bash me guys if Im incorrect. can you start fresh and clear codes ? Are there other codes?

I am also getting periodic overheat on display but engine is cold and all sensors hooked up. Air temp on manifold is brand new and exhaust sensor has been swapped for a used working one.

The overheat is intermitent and leaves no code stored.

Ohmed all wires and that checked out good. Current tested entire harness and all good with all connections all the way to the ecm.

I'd at the least pull the ecu connector and spray it with electrical cleaner. Might be a chafed harness, bad grounds blah blah

but I'm leaning to the ecu myself, esp in view of the mystery overheat indication.

disconnect the sensor and see if it throws another code.

a scanner would be a huge asset dealing with this one. You can order the ecu to fire the plug with a mouseclick.
