    Bilge pump mounting

Hey guys, im getting ready to install a bulge pump on my Aquatrax F-12. I was wondering if y'all had any advice as to the best way to fix it to the fiberglass bottom? I certainly don't want to run screws and I'm not confident in using Epoxy - but maybe that's what I should use? Any suggestions?

Epoxy is probably the best but 5200 might also be strong enough to hold it. I'm not familiar with the pump you have but the Rule pumps have a removable basket on the bottom that make it possible to clean crap from the impeller is necessary. Most just use a dab of epoxy on the basket & place it in a low spot in the hull so it's still possible to remove the pump for cleaning. Whatever you use just make sure to prep the mating surfaces with some sandpaper & acetone to make sure there's no oily residue that will prevent it from bonding.

I would try a piece of aluminum, maybe "L" shaped. Drill/screw the base of the pump onto the aluminum, then 5200 the aluminum to the hull. This should allow you to squeeze the tabs and release the pump for cleaning. Then, with the pump off, you can access the screws if you ever wanted to replace the whole unit.

I note on epoxy OR fiberglass resins . . . you should always use whichever is the same you are adhering too. Given the above, 5200 should be plenty strong enough - just make sure to de-wax degrease thoroughly.
