    Powder Coating ride plate?

Just picked up a shred master plate!

Was wondering if anyone has powder coated a ride plate?
Would it hurt performance? Or would it be better considering it would be smoother?

Or should i just media blast it and call it good?

Yes, powercoating tends to to chip off.

media blast it and call it good? Yup.. called a race finish by certain shops.

Thoughts are along the Breaks surface tension and traps air between the water and the plate

Glass bead it. It will give a satin looking finish that will make it more corrosion resistant and reduce drag. Water tends to stick to hulls that are too smooth. The small surface roughness will create turbulence in the boundary layer and reduce stickiness. This is why racing sailboats are sanded, not polished.

I had some Rend ride plates on my WR-500 Waverunners (ancient history) that were powder coated. Looked good when new, but if it scratches, it will just peel off in big strips.
