    2016 FZS SVHO. Faulty accelerator position sensor assembly Cause my stalling symptom?

    If you are active on this forum, you may have seem one of my threads about my ski intermittently stalling upon sudden release of the throttle.

    It has been happening since new.

    Happened first at 1.6 hours.

    I put it in the dealership service dept. 9/2/2015.

    200+ days later the ski is still at the shop.

    Still stalling.

    4 ECMs have been on the ski.

    Tried replacing the throttle body.

    In the process they found a tiny hole in my cylinder head, and replaced the cylinder head.

    So... My question, as indicated in the title of this post;

    Can a faulty accelerator position sensor cause the symptom that I am experiencing?

    Here is a video of what my ski is doing;

    Here are some other threads I have started regarding this issue;

    ANY INSIGHT VERY MUCH APPRECIATED.

    Anyone you know with a stand alone ecu? Haltech/motec/vipec that can plug into it? If your dealers had a fit with it they may try and use that as an excuse to be done with it but there's a possibility you can see what's going on with the data logging capabilities of those computers.

    Now that the dealers been through so much they very well could have the cam timing off etc. Is it any better then before after all their work or is it worse?

    As far as better or worse, it is hard to say. I would have to say 'no difference at all'.

    Some days... When the ski is just on the trailer, as oppose to in the water.. We cannot get it to stall.

    But... on the water. With the natural resistance of the water in the jet pump... Stalls EVERY day we test it, or when I just want to enjoy riding my NEW waverunner.

    What a pain.

    Tell them to change the wire harness if you haven't done so already.

    it was a 09 fx sho ,using the yds we compare the readings with service manual specs and almost closed it was loosing the signal , i did not happen all the time either .
    im surprise that 7k on repairs they did not replace the accel.position sensor or the whole harness , kind it weird they focus on the engine and s/c .makes no sense , i would have check comp , pass, move on to timing chain , pass, move on to electrical .
    i just cannot understand why or how the yamaha tech not the dealer suggest that the s/c was at fault causing the engine to stall . you can remove the sucker out and engine will still idle and rev just few hundred rpms, if there's a maf sensor like in a car i will understand but this is not the case.
    i may be wrong but i'll take my chances .

    This happening when motor is cold or hot after running? I'm guessing if it's stalling all the time you just did this vid in the water to demonstrate what's happening on video and weren't returning from a ride?
