Lucky 13 Pump Cone - Yamaha SVHO

I was going to get this for my GP 1800 then I read this on the description. "Typically you will want a 3mm larger exit nozzle than you would run without the adjustable pump cone. Best results will be achieved when boring your OEM nozzle out larger." This means I have to take the nozzle somewhere and have it bored out? Also says "Utilize spacers to 'dial in' your RPM and find the 'sweet spot' for your ski. Testing different spacer arrangements along with exit nozzle diameters in order to dial in your RPM's will result in gains from holeshot, midrange acceleration and also top speed." Do they think people have 3 or 4 different size nozzles laying around?
Is all this necessary for the average Joe or is this nozzle boring for the racers?
    Thanks...So confused

    Test First

Before you Bore or hone the exit nozzle, checkout your performance first.

My best result was without boring the nozzle.

I'm not now or ever boring anything! Hopefully it will do fine without the cone.

    1+..
Though this was for a Kawasaki ultra 300 it's was same here ,ski performed better with stock size exit nozzle ,cavitated and RPMs were dangerously high as the pump emptied thru the nozzle too quickly less pump pressure ,washers or no washers..

What I like best about the Lucky 13 cone was pump stays loaded a little better in rough waters when your hooking and unhooking..

The cone is a tool to dile in the ski not a bolt on and go mod.

I understand the figuring out which washers to use. Just don't want to bore anything out and try different nozzles to get the RPMs right. 1 or 2 mph I could care less about.

Kinda talking out of both sides of your mouth there. If you truely dont care about mph then save the money on the cone, put a heavy prop in there, and be done. But if you do want the performance gains of a cone you'll have to play with it

I have the stage 2 to put on. My only concern is will that be fine or do I need the cone in order to get the rpms right? If it gives me a little more speed. Then who am I to argue. Hell I don't even know what rpm's It should be at and what is dangerously high. All I have ever done was buy a ski and floor it. Never paid any attention to the RPMs

Haha ok and you know what, more then the guy who pretends to know shit, i appreciate that statement.

Are you doing retainers? If not
Just do your stage 2 and keep the rpms below 8700 and you wont need to worry about anything.

If you find someone to do retainers you can spin it 8700-9400.

IMO, obviously i dont know you, but you dont sound like you dont need 8700+.....

That's me, Shitless.. I'm like a monkey. Jump on, floor it & grin. Yes Jerry's stage 2 comes with retainers.
