    Cracked coil

It was time for new oil and plugs today and discovered a crack on the #3 coil. What do you think?

    It ran fine all day

Exact same thing happened to a friends 130, it will cause the spark to short out. Change ASAP!

It's caused by not going nuts with the dielectric grease (and riding in salt water). You really need to fill the bottom the the rubber umbrella with it till it squishes out when pushing back on.

if the coil still works remove the top seal, remove the cracked plastic, remove the rusted metal shield, then give it a good clean.
if you can find some aluminium duct tape wrap it a couple of times in the same spot the steel was, then put the cracked plastic back on and the top seal half way up, using petroleum jelly on the stick above the seal then slide coil into top seal creating a seal with the jelly, replace into engine. if you cant put the cracked plastic back on use electrical tape.

    Cracked coil

I have 3 less than 50 hour px 260 coils I'll give you if you'll just cover the shipping.

I just did the 300 px coil conversion on one of my 2 px 260's.

I'll have 6 when I do the second one. Glad to help if you haven't already gone a different route. Just let me know.

Edit: not sure if they are compatible or not. Let me know.

Petroleum jelly will make the top hats swell out after some time . Get a new set of coils or just do a 300 conversion !

Wow, very generous offer; greatly appreciated , but I have ordered 3 new OEM coils.

BTW, the best price I could find was at 2WheelPros.com; $101.23 each, free shipping

I hit 200 hours on Saturday, so I'll just call this part of the 200 hour service.

Agreed!! Do not use anything petroleum based...dielectric grease is the correct stuff to use and its how OEM does it.

been using petrolium jelly for over ten years on all my customers skis, no swelling at all, over use of some water displacement sprays is what seem to swell them, in the cases I've seen
