RXP 300 RS only hitting around 7960RPM?

    Hi Guys,

Had a solid weekend out on the lake with hours of riding time. I am only hitting 7960 MAX RPM on my rxp 300 and about 120 KPH (74ish MPH)

I jumped on a friends rxp 260 rs and his RPMs is around 8100. Both skis are stock. Correct me if I am wrong but I thought 300s are meant to rev to around 8040-8100?

Could there be a potential issue with my ski? it still seems to run great and has good pull.

Can't compare one to the other. A lot depends on weather conditions/water temperature. Mine run between 7600 to on the limiter depending on water/weather conditions. Only way to fix it is to adjust pitch on impeller. Remember BRP picked a good middle point but there is no guarantee you will hit 8040 all the time.

I hear what you are saying. it just seems that through the whole weekend the only time I saw 8040 was first thing in the morning when the lake was glass and lower air temperatures. I ride in New Zealand so does not get overly hot here ski has just clicked over 21 hours

Your ski is fine. Even the rs is limited to about 72mph GPS.

Slight variations in the pitch of the prop can explain that as well. One of the blades is probably slightly out compared to the other. Wear ring clearance can also have an effect. I doubt that there is a true issue with your ski.

Hi mate nice looking ski, I just bought a 2017 RXT300 from JFK ring them and speak to John the owner, there not much he doesn't know, he races them, has been for years, I'm pretty new to this but he has some good advice, re-flashing etc. Im in Taupo and there is racing on the 18th and 19th this month in Kinloch if your keen, it will be my first time as a Novice. Iv'e just up graded the intake grate with a new Riva grate, and had through hull exhaust, but John put me off one reason you can't race as a Novice with through hull exhaust, so he suggested taking the resonator out making up a pipe, it sounds heaps gruntier, but can still hear yourself talk while idling.

Can you make a video of the thing in the water? I would like a comparison, but if i can get what one of these setups sounds like in the water i might just try it out.
