    Compass

Anybody use a compass on their ski? Looking to find one for Marine use not to big and ideally i want it on the ski and not in my glove box due to space problems.
Looking around their are plenty, however would really like to know if somebody has used one and that it will work and take the pounding of a ski especially at sea.
    All advice is welcome.

Will you also be carrying or using a chartplotter (GPS)?

Some also have magnetic compass direction indicator or just show your direction/heading on the GPS chart display.

Think about where you might mount it.

Magnetic compass are sensitive to nearby electrical wiring and especially bothered by changing or pulsing electric currents.

I think Ritchie makes a gimbal style one, all rubber mounted and everything specifically for use on skis. might be a little chunky...

Store extra batteries in the glovebox as backup for the Garmin.

    Here's another option:

Where are you going to mount the sextant? Look at the sun unless it's dark.
