159mm vs 161mm Jet Pumt Setup.

ok i need opinions here , i noticed some 300 owners are running a 159 setup vs the 161??? what gives isn't the 161 more efficient since it is bigger, i recall way back a bigger pump was optional/aftermarket and know it is standard why go back to 159?????

Hmm I though i read 159 pumps switched to 161 wear ring and impeller gained couple miles and acceleration.

I tried a 159 in my 300. 161 was way better at stock rpm levels much faster. It seems as that you have to spin the 159 to the moon to get the speed out of it. So if your not going to to turn 8800+ then stick with the 161

That's what I read too. I'm guessing the 161 wear ring is thinner to allow fitting inside the 159?

Bet it's a PIA to get it in there. I think Water4fire has a post on this in here recently.

I had frustrations getting the new 161 wear ring in. I ended up putting ring in freezer for awhile and heating pump with a torch and then pressed it in with a mallet and 2x4. It then sat nice and perfect. But it is not as easy as prior rings for sure.

Correct , same outside diameter just gets more material removed from the center.

Just debating on what's better I had the 159 with Skat impeller on the old turbo setup.

I might have my stainless 159 ring machined to 161 if the performance gains are true with the Sola's 13/18
