    '05 GTX Fuel indication problem?

This type is not the internal slide magnet pickup. I have the newer potentiometer style pick-up that mounts on the side of the submersible aluminum fuel pump tube housing. Attached to the potentiometer is a wire form and a float. Thought for sure the contacts were worn out, because using an ohm meter it seemed there were gaps with no connectivity. So, I replaced the whole part. Now I'm getting the same erroneous indications on the digital fuel quantity indicator with either the new or the old part plugged in. It either show's full or about 3/4, or blanks out entirely, no matter how slowly I move the arm through it's radius.

Any experience? When I search for fuel quantity indication problems, all I get is video tutorials on how to fish magnets out of the tank and short out the F1 fuse, which has nothing to do with my model.

Thanks in advance if you know what the issue's fix could be.
