    svho breakin period?

What is the best way to breakin these motors?
First hour or two keep it under 6k rpms?
Pretty sure need to let the piston rings seat before getting the rpms into the 6500+ with boost from the supercharger?

That is exactly the way I did my 2009 FZR and it now has 340 trouble free hours on it so far. Tommy Joran

i dont believe in proper break in. ride it like you stole it and i just follow the rule of not holding the engine at xxxx rpm for too long.

Owners manual suggest keeping it below 5000 rpm for the first 90 mins and also idle for the first 5 mins

You're not going to seat the rings properly taking it easy on the engine. First ride I pulled both my kids on a tube to load the engine down. After about an hour of that, I did repeated speed runs.

Think about how engine builders break in custom high-dollar engines in cars. They put them on an engine dyno, load it down with the water brake, and make a bunch of extended pulls. I suspect Yamaha's recommendation is more about getting the rider used to the ski's power and handling than about engine break in.
