    Virage (yong wang).

    Hello everyone.

I am new to PWC world.

My name is Mata and i am from Croatia.

My cousine gave me copy of Polaris Virage Yong Wang chinese ski for free.
I know its old and it is chinese but for now it seems that it is exact copy of Virage and i would like to repair it and drive for few years.
I downloaded diagrams for vires and parts manual, it seems that everything is exactly same (Virage).

The ski didnt want to start, so we reapired damaged starter and now it works(starter), for now we know that stator is bad and CDI (not shure),we also opened engine and there is one piston broken.

Next week will open everything and see what else we need to change.

It would be useful to me if anyone knows if anywhere in Europe is possible to buy parts for virage?

    Thanks.

    Welcome

The Yong Wang is indeed a copy of the Virage, it it is not certain that all the parts are exact interchangeable dimensions. If you search back in the Polaris forums on Greenhulk there have been a few other Yong Wany threads with discussions of various problems and diagnostics.

I do not have a list of parts sources for Polaris that may have Europe locations. There are some Polaris owners based in the U.K. And some other European countries. They may be able to assist.

I suggest you update your Profile with your location and info on your watercraft. That way others can easily see where you are and possibly assist. Click on the My Profile link, top right corner of the web site.

Certainly you can order parts from the US and have them shipped. John at Watcon has shipped parts to different countries. John can provide genuine Polaris OEM parts and aftermarket for things like pistons. He also has access to used parts.

It will be up to you to carefully measure and check that the Yong Wang engine parts are an exact match for the genuine Polaris parts as we do not have full technical information for Yong Wang.

In general with any brand of older watercraft, it is important to check everything, not just fix the obvious broken parts. When riding on the water it is important that the machine be reliable as a failure can strand you on the water, possibly causing risk to your life.

On genuine Polaris there are lists of the things that should be checked, maintained, repaired or upgraded. Click on my signature links for some of this info. Even more is posted in different sections and threads on Greenhulk Polaris.

Specific things to check would be the jet pump bearings, the driveshaft through-hull bushing+seal assembly, all hoses and clamps. For hoses check for possible rubbing and abrasion wear, hoses hardened from age, loose clamps.

Genuine Polaris used stainless steel for all bolts and fasteners, I forget whether Yong Wang used regular steel for some things.

The genuine Polaris carburetor engines are sensitive to fuel system problems. It is important that the entire fuel system from fuel tank to carburetor be 100% good. Zero air leaks, correct fuel filter, carburetor internally clean and correctly adjusted.

Looks like it will need some work!

The ride plate under the jet pump looks quite broken or corroded. Was this machine used in salt water?

Are you planning to repaint the upper hull? Why remove the steering and top deck shroud?

A bit off topic, but were these something Polaris licensed or the usual Chinese pirating?

I am unaware of any working relationship between Polaris Industries and the manufacture of the Yong Wang watercraft.

That said, I don't know if any aspect on the Yong Wang infringes on Polaris IP, other than using the Polaris name. There isn't much in a mostly mechanical product that is not legally copyable.
