Voltage regulator/rectifier, replace 2007 with newer 2008 and up?

Hi, can the older voltage regulator/rectifier in 2007 models which are incorporated/bolted onto the air silencer intake box be removed and replaced with the newer voltage regulator?

Would like to remove that older air silencer box with a modern tube with filter at end.

The only difference that I can see in the service manuals is that the 2007 has a magneto flywheel 420889711 and the 2008 has a magneto flywheel 420296900.
The stator plates are the same for both years 2007-2008.
The trigger wheel is the same both years as well 2007-2008.
In general, output from a 2007 magneto is the same as a 2008.. So simply splicing the new voltage regulator with the existing wiring should work? 3 yellows on a connector and Black, Red wiring on the second connector?

Why don't you just make a brake to hold the one you have now

I've read that the older 2007 voltage regulator will burn up unless it is install in the air silencer box with direct air circulation/ventilation to it. The 2007 regulator's heat sinks are facing into the box with air/breeze blowing directly through it to cool off. The 2008 and up are beefier and simply need general air circulation. This is for a 2007 seadoo speedster 150 215 hp.

Works perfect, just have to change the connectors on the harness.

[QUOTE=joseph9936;2803862]Run the kanaflex up to the front and put it by it

The 2007 seadoo speedster 150 has a 3-4 feet kanaflex going from a solid tube with the 3/4" hose for crank gases. I was thinking of removing the air silencer box, shortening the length of the kanaflex and installing a filter. There should be colder air at the bottom of the engine compartment vs the actual openings as heat rises and fresh cold air flows down...? I was thinking of replacing the voltage regulator and mount it to the existing air silencer box bracket? Thanks
